File - Product Category - Buy Names

Micronet can store the item buy price names:

• globally – the same buy price names are used for every item (these are set in the general company configuration - refer to "Edit - Price Names - Buy Price Names")
• per product category – each product category type could have different buy price names (refer to the procedure below)
• against each supplier or per each item where the buy price name is stored differently for each item (refer to "File - Inventory - Price Names" and to "File - Supplier - Buy Names").

Technical Tip The option to set the way you want buy price names to appear is setup in the company configuration. Refer to the Buy Price Breaks and Buy Price Names fields on the Purchasing Configuration screen (refer to "Edit - Program - Purchasing"). This tab is only enabled if the Buy Price Names field on the Purchasing Configuration screen is set to Item then Category then Company.

You use the Category File Update screen - Buy Names tab if Micronet is setup for category-wide buy price names, to set specific item buy price names for each product category. These buy price names are displayed on product inquiry screens and optionally on product reports.

To create category-wide buy names:

1. Add a new product category or open an existing one.

Refer to "Adding a New Product Category" or "Updating a Product Category".
